Known to many around Wyoming as “Wyoming’s Doctor,” John Barrasso is now serving in the U.S. Senate. Following the death of the late Senator Craig Thomas, John was selected to fill the vacant Senate seat out of 31 Wyomingites. As a licensed orthopedic surgeon, senior care is especially important to John. Barrasso also writes a monthly column called “Caring for Wyoming’s Seniors.” John Barrasso can accurately be called a citizen-legislator and should be elected to a full term – a term that will surely be a productive and beneficial one for Wyoming.
A former Governor of Nebraska, Mike Johanns was most recently Secretary of Agriculture in the President’s Cabinet. During his six years as Governor, Johanns was a strong advocate for rural communities and farmers and ranchers. The son of a dairy farmer, Mike still describes himself as “a farmer's son with an intense passion for agriculture.” Johanns will be a strong advocate for Nebraska and an effective United States Senator.
Currently Treasurer of the state of Louisiana, John Kennedy will be a voice of change for the people of Louisiana in the U.S. Senate. As Treasurer, Kennedy is responsible for overseeing the state of Louisiana’s $5 billion budget. Kennedy easily won re-election to his post in November 2007. In Louisiana, he’ll face Mary Landrieu whose own office has admitted she may be the most vulnerable Democrat Senator in 2008. This will be a race to keep an eye on.
Senator Jeff Sessions learned the values of honesty, hard work and faith in God, while growing up in rural Alabama. Jeff took these values with him when he was elected to the United States Senate in 1996. Sessions returns home to Alabama almost every weekend, and also holds town hall meetings in all 67 Alabama counties each year. Sessions was last elected with over 59 percent of the vote, and it is clear to his constituents that Jeff Sessions is working hard in Washington for Alabama.
